HERMOSA, Bataan – National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) OIC Head for North Luzon, Ronald Romero on Thursday led the turn-over of the 30 sacks of rice for the officials and members of the Bataan Energy Press Corps (BEPC) at the NGCP Substation in Barangay Balsik here.
The rice donation was personally received by BEPC President Mhike Cigaral and Vice President for print, Zeny Soriano, and witnessed by Fely Francisco from NGCP Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Department and Wilbert Abello, Chief Engineer, Substation Lead Specialist.
The said donation, according to Francisco, is part of NGCP’s Php 1 Billion assistance to the national government’s COVID-19 relief and response efforts.
Last March 30, NGCP wrote Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte pledging PhP 1 billion to help the national government in its efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
NGCP is a Filipino-led, privately owned company in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the country’s power grid.
BEPC was formed in 2017 with Mhike R. Cigaral (DZXL RMN, 1Bataan News, iOrbitNews) unanimously voted by his colleagues as the first President; Roel Tarayao (News5, Radyo Bandera) as VP for Broadcast; Zenaida Soriano (1Bataan News, Bataan Primestar) VP for Print; Josie A. Martinez (Net25) as Secretary.
BEPC’s also elected Advisers namely: Jun Roque Bringula (DWIZ), Butch Gunio (Manila Standard), Jose Mari M. Garcia (Millennium Trumpet), and Lulu Levera (Bataan Chronicle).
The group through the years grew in numbers with most of the members are composed of known multimedia personalities in Bataan such as Mar Supnad (Manila Bulletin, Metro Sun, etc.), Greg Refraccion (Phil. Daily Inquirer), Ernie Esconde (Manila Times, GMA News), Larry Biscocho (Net25), Elias Almelor (Sikat FM), Jimmy Z (Poweradio), Jonie Capalaran (1Bataan News, PSN), Danny Cumilang (DZRH) and Atoy Galicia (Bataan Defenders News).
