CABANATUAN CITY — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the construction of a hanging bridge in Nueva Ecija.
This infrastructure now connects barangays Berang and San Pedro in the municipality of Sta. Rosa which are separated by a creek.
“Residents no longer use wooden rafts pulled by a rope to reach the other barangay with the establishment of the 97-meter bridge that provides a better and safer connection,” Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Ricardo Puno said.
Funded with P4.9-million under the 2020 General Appropriations Act, the bridge project was completed within four months and has since become a tourist spot for locals.
In a statement, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said the hanging bridge also allows easy and more convenient access to essential goods and services as residents will no longer travel for 25 minutes via the Sta. Rosa-Tarlac and Sta. Rosa-Jaen Roads.
“DPWH aims to construct more projects like Berang Bridge as it leaves great impact to residents and helps improve local development,” the cabinet official furthered.
