In celebration of the National Commission for Culture and Arts’ (NCCA) National Arts Month, MCC opens its first art exhibition, Sibul Ning Kalalangan. MCC President Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong together with the Mabalacat City Arts and Culture Council composed of great Kapampangan advocates, Center for Kapampangan Studies Director Robby Tantingco, Alex Castro, Architect Ed de Castro, and CDC Media Affairs Manager Noel Tulabut together with noted Kapampangan Historian, Francis Musni and other respected guests led the grand launching of the exhibit.
Led by Mabalacat artist Dodjie Aguinaldo, the exhibit showcased stunning art-pieces from eighteen local artists with the likes of Erwin Dayrit, Arnel David Garcia, and other prominent artists in the community.
Translated as the “Spring Time For The Arts”, this event symbolizes the stepping stone of the local community to gather new interest again in the arts during the New Normal.
In an exclusive interview, Tantingco said “Napakaganda ng nangyari because MCC is hosting a group of artists from all over Pampanga to come here so it is the school’s show of supports for artist.”
He also mentioned that “In terms of this being held during the pandemic, of course when you showcase the talent, the artistry of the artist then you are showing everyone what the human spirit is capable of achieving.”
Likewise, Musni, stated that what just happened shows how the school puts great value for the culture of people here in Mabalacat as arts presented the culture here in Pampanga. He added that “Culture is a mirror a to people.”
He further urge everyone to continue this kind of programs that cultivates the culture and values of people.
In her speech, Dr. Ong expressed her warmest welcome and thanks to all the respected guest and local artist for coming and said that Mabalacat City College is an open home for all the great artist that desires to help in spreading the Arts and Culture in Mabalacat City.
She also mentioned to the artist that “Please consider Mabalacat City Collge as your Bale Ning Kalalangan”. She assured all local artists can utilize MCC as their hub in showcasing their masterpieces.
The Sibul Ning Kalalangan also highlights the importance of such event in influencing the significance of the culture, heritage and the arts to our students. Together with different industry partners, MCC hopes to provide such events in the future in the academe.
The exhibit is free-of-charge to our students and to the public, Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm until February 26, 2021.
