The Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC) will open the new northbound lanes at NLEX Segment 3 in Barangays Dau and Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, Pampanga to accommodate the surge of holiday travelers.
The one-by-one lane at the NLEX Segment 3 had been widened to accommodate two lanes on both northbound and southbound directions.
The P235 million expansion project includes the construction of new northbound bridges at Balem and Quitanguil.
The NLEX Segment 2 road widening project costs P2.2-billion expanding the two-lane portion between Sta. Rita and the City of San Fernando to three lanes on each direction. It is set to be completed before the year ends.
Traffic at the NLEX Segments 2 and 3 is usually heavy especially during the holidays when motorists leave Metro Manila for destinations in northern Luzon.
The MNTC will open NLEX Segment 3 on December 2. Invited to witness the opening of the new NLEX northbound lanes are Mabalacat City Mayor Marino P. Morales, Vice Mayor Christian C. Halili, MNTC President Rodrigo E. Franco, TRB Executive Director Abraham P. Sales and basketball coach Yeng Guiao.
