Floridablanca’s ‘Pinukpuk Festival’ was adjudged as the grand champion in the street dance competition during the opening of 445th Pampanga Day celebration at the Capitol on Monday.
The town bested 18 other municipalities during the competition, which is part of the Pampanga Day celebration with the theme “Masayang Pamilya king Maasensung Probinsya”.
Floridablanca is known for making aluminium products as their primary source of income, particularly in Barangay Mabical, hence “Pinukpuk”.
Other winners were Guagua, San Simon and City of San Fernando.
The 445th Pampanga Day celebration kicked off on Monday with a holy mass officiated by Archbishop Florentino Lavarias where Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda was joined by provincial government officials, employees, municipal and city mayors and other local government officials.
After the street dancing competition, Governor Pineda distributed P50,000 each to 21 Mutya Ning Kapampangan delegates, as financial assistance.
Pineda also led the ribbon cutting of agri and trade fair at the capitol grounds here.
Other activities in this year’s weeklong celebration include River Cruise, launching of Preventive Health Management System and Medical Mission, coronation of Mutya ning Kapampangan and Most Outstanding Kapampangan Awards.
