“Reaping the Fruits of Genuine Public Service” -Chevalier School PTA, Alumni send Appreciation Plaques to Angeles City LGU, media

FOR THEIR recent contribution to the welfare of students and teachers of Chevalier School, the Sacred Heart Seminary-Chevalier School Alumni Association and the Parents-Teachers Association have expressed their gratitude to the Angeles City Local Government Unit, City Council, media outfits and other personalities through the presentation of Appreciation Plaques in an awarding ceremony Thursday at the Legislative Building, Angeles City Hall Compound.

The invocation was led by Rev. Fr. Ben Roquero MSC CS Rector and expressed his gratitude to all the recipients and supporters.

Among the recipients are: Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” G. Lazatin Jr., Vice Mayor Vicky Vega Cabigting, City Councilors Atty Pogs Suller, Doc Alfie Bonifacio, Dan Lacson, JC Parker Aguas, Thelma Indiongco, Jay Sangil, Joseph PG Ponce, Marino Niknok Bañola, Amos Rivera, Raco Del Rosario, ABC President Jerry Alejandrino, SK Federation President Arnoah Prince Mandani, SP Secretary Atty Mark Lumboy, Iorbit News Online, Brigada, Punto CLTV36, and CS stakeholders’ brilliant lawyer Regina Cortez Gopez for her passion, dedication, and professionalism. The plaque signatories were Victor Joaquin “VJ” Tanglao, SHS-CS Alumni Association President and Fernan Panlilio, CS PTA President.

Mayor Lazatin “assured that the city government continues to stand shoulder to shoulder with all stakeholders in the pursuit of providing quality education to students.” Vice Mayor Vega Cabigting said “there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.”

Councilor Alfie Bonifacio, meanwhile, received a Plaque “With Our Greatest” Appreciation for spearheading the City Council’s support.
Among the special guests: Mayor’s Office Exec Asst IV Reina C. Manuel…City Information Officer Arnel San Pedro (Iorbit News Online’s Editor In Chief), CS Alumni Ador Lorenzo and Andy Batac.

According to Tanglao and Panlilio, the recipients were honored “for their valuable support in upholding the Chevalier School students’ right to education, continued existence and educational service to Angeles City” and crusaded—fearlessly and bravely—to save the 61-year old school from sudden closure. Otherwise 1,300 students will be displaced and 89 teaching and non-teaching personnel will be rendered jobless as collateral damages amid the land dispute between the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Fernando, Pampanga and floored by the pandemic’s reeling effects. But all’s well that ends well. The long battle has been resolved amicably allowing the school to operate until 2033 pursuant to a triumphant RTC Ruling bestowed upon the CS stakeholders.

As culmination Vice Mayor Vega Cabigting read the unanimously approved City Council Resolution No. 9480 S-2021, filed by Councilor Bonifacio entitled “Resolution Adopting and Strongly Supporting The RTC Decision of RTC Branch 58 of Angeles City under Honorable Judge Irineo Pangilinan With Regard to Case No. R-ANG-17-00615-CV For Permanent Injunction With Prayer For the Issuance of Temporary Restraining Order And Writ of Preliminary Injunction Plus Damages of Chevalier School Pursuant to the Constitutional Right of Students to Education Until The Year 2033.”
