Cop gets double life sentence for Tarlac killings

CAMP OLIVAS — Central Luzon Police Director  Brig Gen. Valeriano de Leon announced that a Tarlac court on Thursday sentenced Jonel Nuezca, a former police officer, to double life sentence for killing Sonya and Frank Anthony Gregorio in Paniqui, Tarlac on December 20, 2020.

Nuezca, in a viral video, shot the victims during an altercation over the use of polyvinyl pipe locally known as “boga” and creating noise which is prohibited.

The cop then fled on board his motorcycle but hours later surrendered to the Rosales police in Pangasinan.

The dismissed cop was also required by the court to pay P476,280 each to the bereaved families of the two victims.

“This development in the case of Nuezca goes to show of equal justice to everyone and that the PNP does not condone any infraction or wrongdoing committed by any of its members. Any individual regardless of status must face the crimes they have committed, there is no exemption in enforcing the law,” De Leon said.
