The effect of southwest monsoon with continuous heavy rains has brought most areas in Bataan submerged in water and some areas were even declared under state of calamity.
In response to this, P & A Foundation and P & A for A Cause conducted a relief operation through SM Foundation, Inc. This partnership involves distribution of 250 Kalinga packs to those affected families of Pilar and Balanga in Bataan which brought smiles to affected families.
These families were affected by the recent “Habagat”, and they were happy to receive kilos of rice, cup noodles, cans of sardines and tuna and bottles of distilled water.
Pilar Mayor Charlie Pizzaro was so delighted to receive the Kalinga packs from SM City Bataan Asst Mall Manager Jhoan Gatdula which he said would help his fellow Bataeño in this difficult times.
It can be recalled that after the recent southwest monsoon, the national task force against COVID-19 has placed Bataan under hard lockdown due to the surge of cases and the threat of the more transmissible Delta variant.
The distribution is done in cooperation with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) of Bataan, local government units, SM malls and Savemore Bataan.
SM Foundation through the Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) continues to give immediate assistance to communities and serves as first responders during calamities.
