2 weather systems to bring rain showers over parts of PH

MANILA – The shear line affecting extreme northern Luzon and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao will bring rain showers over parts of the country Monday, the weather bureau said.

A low pressure area (LPA) entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) around 2 a.m. Monday. It was last tracked 970 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, and is embedded along the ITCZ.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte due to the shear line,

The same weather condition will be experienced over Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Eastern and Central Visayas due to the ITCZ.

“The LPA is expected to be near the Visayas and Mindanao and affect these areas within two to three days,” said Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Aurelio added that the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

Generally fair weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the easterlies will prevail over the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over the entire archipelago.

Strong to gale force winds are forecast over the northern and eastern seaboards of northern Luzon, and the western seaboard of northern Luzon.PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small sea vessels not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves. (PNA)
