Bataan poultry owners form CL’s first MMT

The Bataan Poultry Growers Association Inc. (BPGA Inc.), in partnership with the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB-DENR) and the provincial government unit of Bataan, formally formed a multi-partite monitoring team (MMT).

Eric Hermoso, the BPGA president, said the MMT was organized to help address their group’s major concerns such as environmental issues and other problems that will arise in their operations.

“This is more on the preventive side when it comes to the problems being encountered in our industry. We’ll not wait for the problem to arise to be reactive that is why we formed this group,” Hermoso told I-Orbit News.

He added that their association will focus more on the long term solutions and planning to help them more in this fast growing industry.

EMB Region 3 Director Lormelyn Claudio, Board Members Benjie Serrano, Jr. and Peping Villapando, provincial veterinarian Dr. Albert Venturina, and Bataan PG-ENRO Engr. Vic Ubaldo graced the event.

“I commend this group and congratulate them. This is the first cluster MMT in the region to address problems and concerns in the poultry industry. This assures us that all stakeholders will be participating,” Claudio said.

Hermoso’s group has almost 60 members who supply 11% of the country’s poultry products. BPGA last year registered a P1.5-billion capitalization which reportedly produced some 40.6 million of broiler meat from 45 highly sophisticated farms operating in the province. –-Mhike Cigaral/Contributor
