CLARK FREEPORT – Some 139 individuals completed the training on wig making spearheaded by the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) in partnership with the world-class manufacturer of hairpieces and other related accessories here.
The trainees completed the 30-day Skills Training and Employment Program for the Underprivileged Persons (STEP-UP) on Wig Making implemented by the state-run firm in partnership with Aderans Philippines, Inc. (API) and Starboard Manpower Services, Inc. (SMSI).
The culminating rites was held on January 18 at the API complex here.
In his report to CDC President and CEO Noel F. Manankil, Assistant Vice President Rommel C. Narciso for External Affairs Department (EAD) said the new wig makers are part of the total 640 individuals who finished the STEP-UP on wig making since the program started in 2015.
Aside from free skills training, Narciso said the trainees were given an allowance of 75 percent of the minimum wage per day and a guaranteed employment for those who will complete the training program.
For his part, Masao Kaneko, API general manager, underscored the quality of their products are the main reason for customers to come back to do more business with API.
On the hand, Michelle Tan, general manager of SMSI encouraged the graduates “to love their job.”
Also present were. Ma. Rose S. Mandap, Asst. Manager- CDC/CSRPD, Joselito J. Romero, Senior Officer-CDC/SCD and Jodan S. Ramos, HR Officer-SMSI and Lycia D. Marzan, CSRPD Community Relations Officer.
