A total of 117 applicants were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) in a city job fair conducted by the local government of San Fernando at SM Downtown on Saturday.
The City Employment and Services Division, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, registered a total of 654 applicants coming from different barangays in the city and other neighboring towns.
CESD further reported that 22 companies participated in the event that produced a total of 1,845 local and 750 overseas job vacancies.
In an interview, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago said this activity seeks to speed up the meeting of hiring companies or employers and qualified workers.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the results noting that this is just the first among four job fairs that will be hosted by the city this year.
“Taun-taon po ay nagkakaroon tayo ng apat na Job Fairs sa syudad. Simula pa lang po ito at sisikapin po naming makapaghandog ng mas marami pang trabaho at pangkabuhayan sa ating mga kababayan,” he added.
Meanwhile, applicants who did not make it to the job fair are still encouraged to submit their resumes at the CESD or Public Employment Service Office located at the city hall.
