Police on Monday arrested a 71-year old barangay chairman after he yielded a cache of firearms and bullets in Guimba, Nueva Ecija.
The suspect was identified as Gil Gamis, chairman of Sitio Medina, Barangay San Miguel in Guimba, Nueva Ecija.
Joint elements of RID-RSOG3 together with 303rd MC RMFB3, Intelligence Section RMFB3, and Guimba, Nueva Ecija police, under the supervision of Lt. Col.Jay Dimaandal, implemented a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and confiscated one M16 rifle, one carbine, nine magazine assembly loaded with 30 rounds of 5.56mm live bullets, nine pieces of magazine assembly loaded with 20 rounds of 5.56mm live bullets, one .50 pistol with live bullets, a rifle grenade, 24 live bullets for .22 gun, 51 live bullets for .45 pistol, a flare gun, one bullet for .9mm gun, two magazine assembly for carbine loaded with live ammunition for .30 mm, 48 live bullets for .30mm firearm, five empty shells for .45 pistol, nine empty shells for .38 SPL and 409 live bullets for 5.56mm rifles.
Police said the suspect will be charged with violation of R.A. 10591 or Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
