The Local Government of San Fernando was again recognized by the Department of Health for its exemplary health care programs.
The recognition was given during the 5th Central Luzon Excellence Awards for Health held at the Royce Hotel Casino in Clark Freeport Zone on Thursday.
This year, the city bagged the Outstanding Healthy Lifestyle Advocacy award which was received by Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago, together with City Health Officer Dr. Eloisa Aquino and Rural Health Physician Dr. Emerito Mercado.
The award is given to LGUs that actively support and contribute to the ‘Kalusugan Pangkalahatan’ program of DOH.
Mayor EdSa also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the DOH Region 3, represented by Asec. Leonita Gorgolon, on the speedy implementation of the upgrading of health facilities in the city.
San Fernando is one of the eleven towns in the province to receive funds from the regional government in order to facilitate the construction of barangay health stations.
“This would be of great help as we continue to bring various government services down to the grass root level. Rest assured that we will prolong our commitment to provide quality healthcare programs to our constituency,” Santiago said.
