CSF holds Phil-China Traditional Cultural Fest

In a bid to strengthen ties between Philippines and China, the City Government of San Fernando on Monday hosted the 17th annual Philippine-China Traditional Cultural Festival at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.

The festival was jointly sponsored by the local government, through its City Tourism Office, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc., Filipino Chinese Amity Club, Inc., and Quanzhon City Cultural Troupe.

Representatives from China have showcased their skills in acrobatics, martial arts or commonly known as Kung Fu and Marionette puppetry show.

Different genres of music and dances were also presented to the Kapampangan audience.

Meanwhile, Filipino performances included drum and lyre exhibition by the students from Pampanga High School and an instrumental presentation by Dolores Elementary School Rondangklung Ensemble.

The Holy Angel University dance theater also performed some of the popular dances in China including lion dance, fan dance and lantern dance.

In his speech, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago extended his warm gratitude to the Chinese partners for showing their rich culture and tradition to the Filipino community.

“This event is a celebration of friendship, between two countries, through a cultural show. We thank you for letting us see a glimpse of your beautiful tradition in China,” Santiago added.

The Festival culminates the celebration of the 16th Cityhood Anniversary of San Fernando or Kaganapan 2017.
