DTI Tarlac trains Dueg entreps on bamboo novelty items making

A total of 20 residents of Sitio Dueg in San Clemente, Tarlac completed the Skills Training on Bamboo Novelty Items Making of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Attendees were members of the Dueg Resettlement Entrepreneurs and Marketing Association (DREAM).

DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo explained that the training aims to upgrade and gear up the skills and competitiveness of DREAM members for future development in their area.

“We would like to prepare the community for the envisioned Dueg Artisanal Craft Village which would provide a venue to showcase the traditional skills, crafts, and tribal practices of the indigenous peoples of Dueg,” she stated.

Dueg Artisanal Craft Village is the proposed bamboo development project of the Tarlac Bamboo Industry Development Council.

During the seminar, Resource Speaker Carlo Dizon demonstrated the techniques of creating bamboo keychains and refrigerator magnets including the process of cutting, skin scraping, sizing, sanding, designing, painting, and coating.

DTI Tarlac provides skills training to various sectors in the province to improve the quality of their products, widen their market reach, enhance their skills on business management, and encourage more potential entrepreneurs to venture in the business field. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
