BCDA makes GCG Hall of Fame for corporate governance

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has earned its place as a “Hall of Famer” among government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) for maintaining its “Outstanding” rating in the Governance Commission on GOCCs’ (GCG) corporate governance scorecard (CGS) for eight consecutive years.

During the inaugural GOCC Governance Awards Ceremony organized by the GCG, the BCDA was recognized as one of the top ranking GOCCs for scoring over 90% in the 2022 CGS. This feat cemented BCDA’s spot in the CGS Hall of Fame given its consistent performance since 2015.

On top of this, BCDA was also awarded as one of the top performing GOCCs based on the 2022 Performance Evaluation Scorecard, where it obtained an overall score of 96.8%.

“The BCDA is truly honored to receive three awards from the GCG. This is an acknowledgement of our efforts to continuously improve our policies and processes in pursuit of transparency, excellence and efficiency, ensuring that our stakeholders are receiving the highest level of service, and that our projects are truly contributing to the betterment of the country and its people,” BCDA Chairman Delfin N. Lorenzana said.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. congratulated the awardees “for demonstrating excellence in the management and operations” of their respective GOCCs.

“Your dedication to your mandate has not only contributed to the advancement of your institutions, but also the growth of our nation as a whole. Remember that as GOCCs, you have the resources and capacity to help improve our economy and society. So I urge you to uphold accountability, transparency, and integrity in your endeavors so that we can serve our people best—more efficiently, and more effectively,” he said in a video message.

The GOCC Governance Awards Ceremony recognizes top-performing GOCCs for their exemplary governance practices and performance ratings that contribute to the country’s economic growth and development.

The awards are given based on the CGS and the Performance Evaluation System, institutionalized by the GCG to ensure transparent and responsive operations of GOCCs.

The CGS serves as a tool to assess the corporate governance initiatives and practices of GOCCs while the Performance Evaluation System appraises the accomplishments of GOCCs in a given fiscal year based on set performance criteria, targets, and weights.
