Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) commenced nonstop services to Seattle, with the inaugural flight, PR 124, departing Manila tonight for the 12-hour transpacific journey to Seattle – Tacoma International Airport.
The thrice weekly service, using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, is the first and only nonstop link between the Philippines and the U.S. Pacific Northwest. Seattle now joins San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Guam and Honolulu as PAL’s sixth U.S. destination, the most in its 78-year history of transpacific services
PAL continues its interline partnership with Alaska Airlines, the Seattle-based mainline U.S. carrier, to offer more convenient connections to cities across the U.S., including Chicago, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., Houston, Portland, Anchorage and other destinations served by Alaska Airlines.
“Today, through these nonstop Manila-Seattle-Manila flights, Philippine Airlines is proud to take the latest
big investment in its long-term strategy of building stronger connections to the vast United States travel
market,” said PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Captain Stanley K. Ng. “An exciting destination, Seattle, the Emerald City, is also our newest gateway to the rest of America. Our aim is to stimulate value-
added tourism and healthy business activity between the Philippines and not just Washington State, but beyond to Alaska, Oregon, Nevada, and the U.S. Midwest and Sunbelt regions.”
Philippine Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista hailed the new service: “This (Seattle service) solidifies PAL’s foothold on the non-stop trans-Pacific market, the staple route of Filipinos eager to spend the holidays in the Philippines. The Department of Transportation expresses its stamp of approval on this latest network expansion as part of the air travel industry’s aggressive recovery efforts.”
”October is a particularly auspicious time for this launch, as that is the month that we celebrate Filipino American History Month in the United States – to recognize the history, culture, and contributions of Filipino Americans,” said US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson. She further added, “ The State of Washington is home to a vibrant Filipino and Filipino American community, and I am certain those cultural ties will continue to grow ever stronger.”

Seattle, nestled along the picturesque Puget Sound, is home to a vibrant art and cultural scene as well as popular tourist attractions such as the iconic Space Needle, the Seattle Art Museum, the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), and the Pike Place Market near the site of the world’s first Starbucks coffee shop. Mount Rainier towers majestically over the Seattle skyline, and the bustling city of Portland in Oregon is just three hours away by car.
As the closest U.S. mainland airport to the Philippines, Seattle is a convenient point for connections to other U.S. regions.
The PAL flights also provide connectivity via Manila to PAL’s extensive domestic and regional international network, including cities such as Cebu, Davao, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.
