Angeles City on full alert for Holiday season

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has directed the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) to place its Emergency Operations Center on blue alert status from 8:00 AM on December 23, 2024, to 8:00 AM on January 6, 2025, to ensure public safety throughout the holiday season.

This is also in line with Memo No. 90, Series of 2024 from the Regional Disaster Risk Management Resource Coordinating Council (RDMRRC).

Mayor Lazatin also appealed to residents to prioritize safety during the festivities. “As we celebrate the season, let us work together to ensure the safety and well-being of every Angeleño. With everyone’s cooperation, we can achieve a peaceful and joyful holiday celebration,” he said.

Blue alert status is a level of alert that signifies a heightened state of readiness, Rodolfo Simeon, officer-in-charge of ACDRRMO, explained.

“Blue alert status means that our teams are on standby and continuously monitoring any potential risks or emergencies. This ensures we can respond immediately to any incidents, ensuring public safety during the holiday season,” Simeon said.

Simeon further called on Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees to remain vigilant and actively monitor their areas of responsibility.

“We urge everyone to promptly report any incidents to ensure immediate action,” Simeon said.

Mayor Lazatin echoed this call for cooperation and safety, saying, “As we celebrate the holiday season, let us prioritize the safety and well-being of every Angeleño. Together, we can ensure a secure and joyous Christmas and New Year.”

The city government assures the public that measures are in place to safeguard the community, making the holiday season both secure and festive for all.
