IBA, Zambales – The Securities and Exchange Commission-Tarlac Extension Office (SEC-TAREO) highlighted the importance of financial literacy to about 70 senior high school and college students in San Narciso, Zambales.
SEC-TAREO Securities Counsel Ma. Theresa Reotutar said the Investor Education Roadshow held at Magsaysay Memorial College of Zambales, Inc. (MMCZI) aims to equip the youth with essential financial knowledge to help make informed decisions and safeguard themselves from fraudulent investment schemes.
“They need to make well-informed financial decisions, recognize and avoid illegal investment schemes, and understand the five key financial emotions—Gipit, Duda, Waldas, Tipid, and Wais—that greatly influence their financial choices and investment management,” she emphasized.
For her part, MMCZI Executive Vice President Joy Zenith Macalma pressed the significance of equipping students with financial knowledge, noting that it is a vital tool in preparing them for the future.
“Programs like these not only educate our youth but also protect them from potential financial pitfalls. We are grateful to SEC Tarlac for bringing this valuable initiative to our campus,” the official furthered.
The roadshow is part of SEC-TAREO’s broader initiative to expand financial education programs to reach more communities and campuses in Central Luzon. (CLJD/RGP, PIA Region 3-Zambales)
