Honasan: Surrendering Duterte to ICC ‘dangerous precedent’

Former Senator Gringo Honasan has warned that handing over former President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) sets a “dangerous precedent” for the Philippines. He stressed that the country’s justice system should operate independently, free from external influence.

“What is happening now is a dangerous precedent—one that raises serious questions about our nation’s sovereignty and our ability to uphold our own justice system. The rule of law must prevail,” Honasan said.

He emphasized that international pressure should not dictate the country’s legal proceedings, adding, “Our justice system must not be dictated by foreign influence or international pressure.”
