IN what capacity Porac mayoral candidate Mike Tapang was representing when he joined the press briefing of Acting Mayor Myla Clarete last Monday on the controversial P52 million supplemental budget?
Tapang has joined Clarete during her press briefing and even coached Clarete on several queries from members of the media who attended Clarete’s presscon held at Lola Sisa’s Reataurant.
Clarete has clarified issues pertaining to the Porac LGU’s P52 million supplementary budget that was approved under her six-month term.
Tapang has no official position in the Porac LGU yet he joined the press briefing and obviously absent were the appointed vice mayor and councilors who approved the two supplemental budgets amounting to P10 million and P42 million, according to re-electionist Jing Capil.
Clarete has admitted that the first quarter budget of the Porac LGU had already been depleted. When asked about the 2nd quarter budget, Clarete referred to Tapang who told her the budget is still “intact.”
Tapang also took time to lambast Capil on alleged irregularities under his term. Capil said he would not entertain the diatribes of Tapang who has “no official function” in the Porac LGU.
During the press conference, Tapang was seen grabbing the microphone from Clarete who said she is ready to face an audit.
Capil has also challenged Tapang not to use his influence as “brother-in-law” to Clarete to the detriment of Poraquenos.” He said Tapang has no business interfering in the current municipal affairs unless he is a duly elected public official.
“Let the Poraquenos decide first on who they want as Mayor before he act as one,” Capil said.
