Chevalier School Batch ’89 is set to celebrate a significant milestone as they commemorate their 35th anniversary at the Marquee Place Clubhouse in Angeles City.
The event promises to be a nostalgic and memorable gathering, as alumni reunite to reminisce about their high school years while honoring the institution that helped shape their lives.
The celebration will kick off with a solemn mass led by former rector Fr. Gene Sabio and Fr. Richard Montaner, with special tribute extended to retired teachers who played a pivotal role in the lives of Batch ’89 students. The night will be a heartwarming reunion of memories, marking the transition from the 1980s to the 1990s, an era defined by the rise of new wave music and the golden age of Pinoy rock bands.
In keeping with the spirit of camaraderie, Caballero Batch ‘89 media relations officer Andrew “Andy” Batac shared the highlight of the evening will be a musical program where alumni will “sing the night away,” performing classic hits from their era. “The event will be filled with laughter, music, and the rekindling of lifelong friendships. Special performances and group sing-alongs are expected to bring back the magic of our high school years, as we immerse ourselves in the familiar tunes of 80s to 90s,” Batac added. “Beyond the celebration, Batch ’89 is also rallying around a meaningful cause – a fundraising drive to support the relocation of Chevalier School”.
With the school facing challenges in securing a new site after being asked to leave its current location in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Angeles City, alumni have stepped up to help ensure its future.
Converge ICT Solutions Founder and CEO Dennis Uy, a distinguished alumnus of Batch ’86, has taken a lead role in this effort by donating a 3-hectare property in Angeles City for the school’s new site. This generous contribution has provided a much-needed solution to the school’s relocation challenge, and it is a testament to the deep bond that Uy and his fellow alumni share with their alma mater.
During his time as president of the Chevalier School Student Council, Uy was also instrumental in spearheading the construction of the school gym, a facility that remains in use today. Now, his latest act of service will help secure the future of the institution. The new campus will be located within the grounds of Tech City and will bear the name of Uy’s father, Chung Ching Wong Uy, in honor of the family’s legacy of service and philanthropy.
As Batch ’89 celebrates 35 years of memories, growth, and friendship, the event will not only be a joyous occasion but also a moment of giving back, ensuring that future generations of students can experience the same formative education and community that shaped their own lives.
