MARIVELES, Bataan — In many Filipino families, women—especially housewives—are traditionally seen as the light of the home, caring for their children and managing household responsibilities. However, with the right opportunities, they can unlock even more and become active participants in the modern workforce.
AboitizPower subsidiaries GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD) are helping make this a reality. On March 12, 2025, through a partnership with Connected Women, a social impact organization focusing on empowering women through technology, entrepreneurship, and remote work opportunities, the companies officially turned over digital work materials to the beneficiaries of the Elevate AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Data Annotation) livelihood program.

Held at Kamayen Restaurant in the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), Mariveles, Bataan, the ceremonial turnover marked a new chapter for 37 stay-at-home housewives in Mariveles, equipping them with tools and skills to build sustainable livelihoods and unlock new avenues for growth in the digital economy.
The event was graced by the presence of key leaders who champion inclusivity—Mariveles Municipal Mayor Atty. Ace Jello Concepcion, Mariveles Tourism Council Chairperson Atty. Mariafe Concepcion, Buklod ng Kababaihan President Leonida Valderama, and Reputation and Stakeholder Management (RSM) Manager Joseph Paolo Mendoza.
“This initiative is a step toward enhancing skills, improving productivity, and fostering growth in our community,” Mendoza said. “Together, we continue to create meaningful impact.”
The beneficiaries, who are members of a municipal-level organization called “Buklod ng Kababaihan,” received a 15-day training in data annotation. To support their new skills, each woman was equipped with a laptop, headset, wired router, and pocket Wi-Fi device. These resources will enable them to find online job opportunities, work remotely, and access more livelihood prospects with job-hunting assistance from Connected Women.
“Maraming salamat po sa AboitizPower subsidiaries GMEC at GNPD (Thank you very much to AboitizPower subsidiaries GMEC and GNPD),” said one of the beneficiaries. “Ang inyong suporta ay hindi lang isang tulong. Ito ay isang inspirasyon para sa bawat babaeng nangangarap na kumita para sa mas magandang kinabukasan ng aming pamilya. (Your support is not just assistance—it is an inspiration for every woman who dreams of earning for a better future for our families).”
Elevate AIDA support falls under GMEC and GNPD’s broader P.R.O.G.R.E.S.S. program, specifically aligned with the “G” component, which stands for Generate Livelihood Skills and Income, with PHP 2.4-M worth of initiatives reflecting the company’s commitment to leveraging technology, fostering inclusive innovation, and contributing to a more equitable future.
