AboitizPower subsidiary GNPD secures victory at AFAB Fire Olympics 2025

MARIVELES, Bataan — In celebration of Fire Prevention Month, the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Public Safety and Security Department – Fire and Emergency Division successfully hosted the inaugural AFAB Fire Olympics 2025 on March 27, 2025. The event gathered nine AFAB locators, including AboitizPower subsidiary GNPower Dinginin (GNPD), in a thrilling showcase of fire response skills, teamwork, and safety preparedness.

The competition featured a series of high-intensity challenges designed to test the participants’ speed, accuracy, and emergency response capabilities. The elimination round included the Busted Hose Replacement and Bucket Relay events, where teams raced against time to demonstrate precision in handling fire-fighting equipment. Advancing to the championship round, finalists competed in the Fire Extinguisher event, a critical test of their ability to contain and control fire emergencies effectively.

Dominating the competition, the GNPD Fire Brigade Elite Team secured first-place victories in two out of three events, earning them the title of inaugural AFAB Fire Olympics champions. Despite a 10-second penalty in the hose replacement challenge, the team’s precision and speed propelled them to victory, culminating in an impressive performance in the final round.

The GNPD Fire Brigade Elite Team consisted of Jayson Reyes, Joshua Padilla, Eugene Dasalla, John Paul Samaniego, Ramsey Tosio, Patrick Manantan, and Michael Dungo. They were coached by GNPD Safety, Health, and Environment Manager John Paulo Lazaro.

“This event highlights the critical importance of fire safety preparedness across industries,” said Lazaro. “We are honored to take part in this initiative and to uphold safety excellence in our workplace and beyond.”

The AFAB Fire Olympics 2025 set a new benchmark for emergency response readiness within the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB). With teams demonstrating outstanding commitment to fire prevention and safety, the event reinforced the need for continuous training and collaboration to ensure a safe and resilient workplace.
