ANGELES CITY – The city government under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on April 8, 2025 held a Sisig cooking demonstration to celebrate Filipino Food Month or Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino.
With a theme “Sarap ng Pagkaing Pilipino, Yaman ng Ating Kasaysayan, Kultura at Pagkatao”, renowned Angeleño culinarians took part in cooking their respective versions of sisig.
Among the invited guests who featured their own recipes were 25 Seeds Restaurant Assistant Chef Eric Rivera; Carmina Pangilinan, the granddaughter of the “Legendary Sisig Queen,” Aling Lucing; Emilia Aguarin of Batcha-Batchang Lutong Ulam; Jaymark Sumala, Chef, Mila’s Tokwa’t Baboy; and Annalyn Castañeda of Bhar’z Kitchen.
Lazatin said this is a cooking exhibition to showcase Angeles City’s best pork dish – Sisig.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, who supervised the cooking demonstration with Angeles City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, said this is one of the priority programs of Mayor Lazatin in boosting the city’s gastrotourism.
The said cooking demonstration, according to Manuel, is the third time under the stint of Mayor Lazatin.
For her part, Antonio-Sugui thanked the Angeleño culinarians who made time and effort in supporting the cooking demonstration.
“Nais po ni Mayor Lazatin na ipagmalaki ang talento at pagkain na meron dito sa siyudad, kagaya po ng sikat na sikat na Sisig ng Angeles City,” Antonio-Sugui shared.
