ANGELES CITY — The city government has administered vaccines to more than 12,000 residents in just two days — 6,094 on August 11 and 6,017 on August 12. Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said the city government has surpassed its target to inoculate 6,000 residents daily.
This was also shared by Mayor Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, saying the inoculations on the said dates surpassed the 5,817 vaccinated on Aug. 6 and 4,714 on Aug. 5.
With the launching of the family vaccination programs — the Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay and the Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay — the city government is getting closer towards herd immunity.
Ronda Bakuna is being implemented in villages with small populations using a mobile clinic and an ambulance, while the Sundo Bakuna is for villages with six Philippine Rabbit buses and 10 jeepneys fetching families going to City College of Angeles for vaccination.
To date, the city government has vaccinated 109,875 for the first dose or 23.73% of the city’s 462,928 population, while 64,794 or 14% were already vaccinated. The vaccines administered — Astrazeneca, Sinovac, Pfizer, and Johnson and Johnson — were initially donated by the Department of Health (DOH).With this, the DOH Region 3 has recognized Angeles City as one of the top performing LGUs in terms of vaccination, bexceeding the 3,700 ceiling set by the DOH.
Mayor Lazatin said this would not be possible if not for the hard work of vaccination teams, rain or shine.”Maraming salamat po sa ating mga kawani ng gobyerno na bumubuo sa ating vaccination teams, sa hindi matawarang serbisyo para sa mga Angeleños,” he furthered.
The vaccination teams are composed of Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and employees from City Health Office, Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center, Mayor’s Office, Gender and Development Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Angeles City Tourism Auxiliary, Angeles City Barangay Outreach, Business Permit and Licensing Division, Angeles City Tourism Office, Blood Bank, Angeles City Trafffic Development Office, Angeles City Police Office, City Nutrition Office, Office for the Senior Citizens Affairs, and CCA.
