Movie and television actor Julio Diaz and his companion were arrested by operatives of Meycauayan City Police in an anti-drug operation in Barangay Langka on Friday morning.
Bulacan Police provincial director Sr. Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr. said that the actor, Mariano De Leon Regaliza in real name, 59, (listed as High Value Target of Bulacan Police Provincial Office), single, movie actor, native, resident of Villacor Village, Brgy. Langka, Meycauayan City and Ronald Gomez , 35, single, driver, native, resident of Ambuklao Villacor, Brgy. Langka, Meycauayan City, Bulacan.
Diaz and his cohort was arrested around 12:40 AM after conspiring in selling one piece plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to a poseur buyer, in exchange of five hundred (500) peso bill.
Seized in their possession were four pieces of plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 12 grams and a street value of Php 60,000.00.
The arrested suspects and seized pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Crime Laboratory Office for appropriate examination. While appropriate criminal complaints against the arrested suspects are now being prepared for filing in court.
City of Meycauayan Police Acting Chief Of Police (COP) Supt. Santos Mera said that Diaz on July 2016 voluntarily presented himself to this station to clear his name after he was listed in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) watch list.
Diaz admitted then that he was before a drug dependent and stopped since he underwent a surgery caused by brain aneurysm last April of 2016.
Diaz name was implicated to drug watch list on 2016 after Barangay Captain Igmedio Lunaria of Barangay Langka submitted their BADAC report which includes the actor’s name. –ELOISA SILVERIO
