AEC DEBUNKS POWER RATE INCREASE

The Angeles Electric Corporation (AEC) brushed off claims that it unnecessarily increased power rates during the lockdown period.

The AEC says power consumption increased during the months of April and May as the entire country was put on lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19. During this time, consumers’ power consumption increased as they stay home to beat the summer heat with more power usage.

The Powerpoint presentation below indicates April and May bills consumption of about 10% of its customers whose meters were not read in April due to localized lockdowns in areas with confirmed COVID-19 cases, PUIs and PUMs.
