The Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) presented its prestigious Enduring Award to Atty. Pablo M. Gancayco, the Chairman of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), on November 7, 2023, at a ceremony held in Singapore.
The Enduring Award is a lifetime recognition that the APAA bestows upon its members who have demonstrated outstanding engagement, contribution, and loyalty to the association and its objectives.
The APAA is a professional organization that represents patent attorneys in the Asian region and promotes the development of intellectual property rights.
Mr. Gancayco has been a member of the APAA since 2010 and has served in various capacities, including as the President of the Philippine Group from 2014 to 2016, and as the Vice-President of the Council of Presidents from 2016 to 2018. He has also been actively involved in organizing and participating in various APAA events, such as the annual meetings, the council meetings, and the workshops.
Chairman Gancayco expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the honor, saying that it was a privilege to be part of the APAA family and to work with his fellow patent attorneys in advancing the interests of the intellectual property community in Asia. He also dedicated the award to his colleagues at the AFAB, the government agency that oversees the development and administration of the Freeport Area of Bataan, a special economic zone in the Philippines.
The AFAB congratulated Mr. Gancayco on his achievement, saying that he was a shining example of leadership and service. “Chairman Gancayco’s extraordinary service to the APAA is a testament to his excellent leadership and his commitment to the promotion of intellectual property rights in the region. He has brought honor and recognition to the AFAB and to the Philippines. We are proud of you, Chairman Gancayco!” the AFAB said in a statement.
