BALANGA CITY – The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) advanced a major investment opportunity during its recent mission to South Korea, initiating cooperation for a US$700-million liquefied natural gas (LNG) power project and reinforcing its long-standing partnership with Dong In Entech Group.

Led by Administrator and CEO Mohammed Hussein Pangandaman and Office of the Administrator Group Head Percival Peralta, AFAB engaged with Anita Kim, representative of the proponent behind a proposed 250-megawatt Combined Cell Power Plant at the Freeport Area of Bataan.

Pangandaman said the project, which also includes a US$200-million LNG storage facility, would strengthen the Freeport’s energy infrastructure and support the Philippines’ clean energy goals.

“AFAB committed to supporting feasibility assessments and facilitating site visits, paving the way for deeper collaboration,” he added.

The LNG initiative forms part of AFAB’s broader strategy to attract sustainable and high-impact investments that promote inclusive growth and regional development.

Culminating the mission, AFAB signed a Joint Declaration of Continuing Support and Cooperation with Dong In Entech Group, a key locator at the Freeport.

Dong In pledged to open two new companies within the FAB, expanding its footprint and reaffirming its trust in the Freeport’s dynamic and investment-friendly environment.

These developments highlight AFAB’s growing reputation as a premier destination for strategic, innovation-driven investments.

By building strong international partnerships, AFAB continues to position the Freeport Area of Bataan as a vital hub for national progress and regional integration. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
