Mariveles, Bataan – The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) continues to redefine what an investment promotion agency can be in the digital age. Once known primarily for manufacturing and logistics, FAB is now carving its role as the country’s first digital-ready Freeport, welcoming industries in blockchain, fintech, and other new and emerging technologies.

Under Republic Act 11453, AFAB is the only government authority in the Philippines with the legal mandate to license enterprises operating in blockchain and fintech. This legal distinction sets FAB apart, allowing it to attract and regulate companies in high-growth, technology-based sectors that demand both flexibility and legitimacy.

To support this growing ecosystem, AFAB responded with another pioneering move — the establishment of its own Virtual Office, a first-of-its-kind facility located inside the AFAB Administration Building that allows digital enterprises to establish a legal, compliant base of operations in the Philippines without the heavy costs of physical infrastructure.

Spanning 800 square meters, the Virtual Office includes a spacious lounge, executive rooms for private consultations, fully equipped meeting rooms, and coworking areas designed to foster collaboration. It also houses modular office units, allowing enterprises to scale as they grow. To complete the setup, the facility includes a common pantry and a dedicated mailbox system that provides each enterprise with a secure, verifiable business address within the Freeport.
By breaking down physical barriers, AFAB ensures that the FAB remains relevant and competitive in the era of digital transformation, by supporting innovation not only through policy, but through the spaces and systems that make modern business work.
