MABALACAT CITY – The month-long Mabalacat City Fiesta celebration is ongoing and highlights of which are the Queen Mabalacat City beauty contest and the Caragan Festival.
The coronation night of the Queen Mabalacat City 2019 is on February 16 and it will held at the Xevera complex in Barangay Tabun. The
Caragan festival’s highlights is from February 20 to 22 and it will also be held at Xevera.
Mayor Crisostomo “Cris” Garbo, chairman of the fiesta committee, said they are fostering unity despite the fact that it is a political
season. He thanked the city council led by Vice Mayor Christian Halili for supporting the project.
The Caragan festival has P5 million budget, while the Queen Mabalacat has P4 million, organizers said.
Jun Magbalot, vice chairman of the fiesta committee, said the “the Queen Mabalacat City is a grand event and it will be at par with the
other national beauty contests.”
Arwin Lingat, Mabalacat tourism officer, said the some 60 schools will participate in the Caragan Festival. It’s dedicated to the first Aeta Chieftain of Mabalacat named Caragan.
Garbo said they decided to hold the Caragan inside the Xevera complex to avoid inconvenience to residents and motorists. Previous Caragan
festivals were held along MacArthur Highway.
