Ang Probinsiyano Party List to help farmers, fisherfolk in Zambales

Olongapo City –  Ang Probinsyano Party List Rep. Alfred Delos Santos has assured that they will help the farmers and fisherfolk of Zambales by developing the agricultural sector in the provinces. He said that the group’s aim is to boost the livelihood of those living in the provincial areas of the country, during a campaign at the Marikit Park here on Monday.

He added that Ang Probinsiyano Party List will safeguard the rights of small farmers and fisherfolk thru the amendment of the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act (AFMA) of 1997, and update the law for the modern era.

“Key areas need to be addressed to target improvement of agricultural productivity, these are adoption of modern technologies, farming practices and quality inputs; enhancing market access through research and development support; providing training and education that equips farmers with skills in management and marketing technologies” Delos Santos said.

He also suggested a new way to discern the process of the AFMA modernization to help ensure that the national government’s plans are on a “straight path.”

“The law is already in place, we just need to rigorously pursue its intentions, that these are applied to really remove the barriers that hinder the development of our agriculture and fisheries sector,” he added.

During their campaign here, they were welcomed by city councilor hopeful Joy Macapagal, along with her ticket led by mayoral candidate Echie Ponge and vice mayoral candidate Gina Perez at the Marikit Park along with Olongapeños who were also eager to see actor Piolo Pascual.

At the ceremony, Pascual gave a performance to the audience, serenading the crowd during the campaign sortie. The renowned actor also gave out t-shirts and autographs to his fans.

Pascual, a staunch supporter of the Ang Probinsiyano Party List, raised the hands to endorse Representative Delos Santos as well as the Ponge-Gulanes ticket.

Macapagal, the sister of Philippine National Railways Chairman Michael Ted Macapagal, thanked the support given by the Ang Probinsiyano Party List to her ticket. She added that this shows the cooperation of the candidates vying for both the national and local elections.
