ANGELES CITY- A total of 80 beneficiaries in this city graduated on Wednesday, October 10, from the Livelihood and Skills Training program on Bread and Pastry and on Housekeeping offered by the Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) in partnership with Primadeli Culinary Institute (PCI).
The PCI is formally affiliated and accredited with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in July 2015 having passed all the criteria and requirements set by TESDA for Culinary Schools. PCI is also the service provider of PESO and its partner in this kind of training.
The graduation ceremony was held at Robinson’s Place in Barangay Balibago. Among the 80 graduates, a total of 50 took the Bread and Pastry course while the remaining 30 took the Housekeeping course.
The skills training and livelihood program is implemented by PESO in collaboration with the City Government of Angeles, Sangguniang Panlunsod and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The program aims to provide the marginalized sector and the youth sector especially out-of-school youths of the city with additional skills that could boost their competitive edge for prospective job employment. It also intends to equip the beneficiaries with essentials of managing their own businesses.
PESO Officer-in-Charge, Maria Rosa Teodora Basilio said, “This is just the start. I hope that whatever you learned from this training will help enhance your skills and make you hunger for continuous learning.”
Basilio also added that the trainings being offered are free of charge and are TESDA-accredited. Graduates are fully assessed by TESDA and given National Competency (NC) Certificates that attest to their enhanced level of competence in their chosen fields.
As a follow up to the livelihood training, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will conduct an entrepreneurial development training for the graduates. DTI will teach them about entrepreneurship, product development, and packaging.
During the graduation rites, city officials led by Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno and Councilor Jericho Aguas, who chairs the Committee on Livelihood and Training, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to make full use of their newly-acquired knowledge and skills.
For his part, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan lauded the efforts of PESO through this training and urged all Angeleños to avail of other free skills training offered by PESO such as Cosmetology, Massage Therapy, Barista, Servicing and Electrical Products Assembly.
