The Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., continued its “Walang Plastikan – Plastik Palit Bigas” project on October 18, 2024, in Barangay Cutud.
The project encourages AngeleƱo households to practice waste segregation at the source and aims to reduce or eliminate plastic usage. Lazatin’s Chief Adviser, IC Calaguas, explained that the city government collects recyclable plastics from households in exchange for rice, with one kilo of recyclable plastics being exchanged for one kilo of rice.
The collected plastics will be used to create brick pavers. Environmental Management System Head Kiko Pangilinan supervised the plastic-for-rice exchange in Barangay Cutud.
