In a captivating display of beauty and elegance, the Reyna de las Flores (Queen of Flowers) bloomed for its second year in Angeles City. A total of 31 remarkable ladies eagerly competed for the esteemed title of Reyna De Las Flores 2024, each vying for the grand prize of P100,000. Simultaneously, 31 villages contended for the prestigious Best Arch award, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.
Cutcut has once again claimed victory, winning for two consecutive years. Sagala Brithney Baldwin secured the title, receiving a cash prize of PhP 100,000. In last year’s event, Janelle Lewis, also from Barangay Cutcut, was crowned as the first Reyna De Las Flores on May 20, 2023. Barangays Ninoy Aquino and Pulung Cacutud were awarded as first and second runners-up, respectively.
The best Filipiniana gown design was by Ninoy Aquino, while Anunas won the title of Best Arch Grand Winner, with Cuayan and Virgen Delos Remedios as the first and second runners-up, respectively. The Mayor Pogi Lazatin’s Choice award went to Malabanias, while Cutud and Margot received the Early Bird Awards for Sagala and Arch, respectively.
Non-winners received consolation prizes for Reyna De Las Flores and the Best Arch. The event was hosted by the city government under the administration of Mayor Carmelo Pogi Lazatin Jr. and directly supervised by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, with the Angeles City Tourism Office headed by Anneleen Antonio-Sugui. They were assisted by the Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Office led by Irish Bonus-Llego, and the Gender and Development Office headed by Mina Cabiles.
Vice Mayor Vicky Vega Cabigting welcomed the crowd, expressing the desire to maintain this yearly event for Angeleños to understand their culture and tradition. She also praised Mayor Lazatin, Chief Adviser Calaguas, and Exec Asst IV Manuel for their outstanding leadership in organizing a remarkable cultural extravaganza.
City councilors Atty Pogs Suller, JC Parker, SK Federation president Richard Gaza, barangay chairmen, kagawads, department heads, tourism regional director Richard Daenos, and other key officials were present at the event. Ryan Miranda, Magalang Tourism Officer; Augusto Oji Sanchez, Chief Strategic Communications and Events Officer of Clark International Airport Corporation; Riza Lozano, Compliance Officer of CIAC’s AVP for Legal Services; Chito Gomez, Head of Marketing at JDN Realty; and Fashion Designer Rosette Biag comprised the panel of judges for the second Reyna De Las Flores.
Additionally, participating in the renowned parade was Bgy Cutcut’s Genica Mae Cruz, currently holding the title of Mutya Ning Angeles 2023.
The competition showcased the grace and confidence of Angeleña beauties aged 18 to 24 from various villages. The event was skillfully hosted by DJ Tina Moran, who brought her energy and expertise to engage the audience and ensure a memorable experience for all attendees.
Held on May 11, it featured a grand cash prize of PhP 100,000, attracting participants and spectators alike. Festivities included a contest for locally designed gowns, adding a touch of cultural richness to the renowned parade, representing another key initiative by Lazatin aimed at showcasing the artistic talents of the Angeleños and boosting the local flower industry.
The parade commenced at Angeles Electric Corp., Nepo Quad. After the procession, the program unfolded at the corner of the Pamintuan Mansion, along the stretch of Sto. Entierro street, offering a delightful conclusion to the day’s events.
