Another first for PDEA

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Aaron Aquino on November 14 meets with Marcial Amario III, administrator of Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) to discuss plans to deputize PDEA agents and conduct inspections in all marine vessels in the country’s 1,200 private seaports.

Aquino will submit the proposed Memorandum Of Agreement to MARINA at the soonest possible time for signing.

Aquino said that illegal drugs are easier to transports via water vessels thus the immediate need to deploy PDEA agents. This is another first in the history of PDEA and the country. Aquino has launched a series of first in his two-month leadership in PDEA. He established the first PDEA’s office inside the Bureau of Corrections and he is also in the process of establishing PDEA offices in the country’s 13 major seaports.

Also present during the meeting are PDEA’s chief of staff IC Calaguas, Marina’s Executive Assistant Mon Cruz and Benjamin Mucmerry. –By Lovely MendezlOVE
