Arbor Day tree planting unites agencies for green future

DIPACULAO, AURORA — In a compelling demonstration of environmental unity and civic responsibility, various government agencies converged in Sitio Upper Bulos, Barangay Dinadiawan, Dipaculao, on June 25, 2025, to mark Arbor Day and Philippine Environment Month through a large-scale tree planting initiative. Carrying the theme “Ending Global Plastic Pollution,” the event was led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and gathered personnel from the Philippine Army’s Bravo Company, 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the local government of Dipaculao, headed by Mayor Danilo A. Tolentino.

While the day’s activity centered on planting tree seedlings to support reforestation and climate resilience efforts, its deeper significance lay in the visible spirit of bayanihan—a shared commitment to environmental stewardship that transcends institutional boundaries.

“This kind of unity—military, police, coast guard, and civil servants working side by side—is exactly the kind of whole-of-nation approach we need to address climate challenges,” a DENR official remarked.

For the Philippine Army, participation in such initiatives reinforces its broader mission of nation-building.

“Environmental protection is not just a civilian responsibility,” said one Bravo Company representative. “It’s our duty as soldiers, too. Trees planted today will shelter future generations.”

Beyond promoting ecological integrity, the activity served as a platform for community engagement and awareness on pressing environmental issues, including the global threat of plastic pollution. The tree planting was not only a symbol of hope but also a concrete step toward building a more sustainable and disaster-resilient community in Aurora.

As participants packed up for the day, the rows of newly planted saplings stood as a living reminder: environmental progress is possible when institutions—and individuals—move as one.
