Former president and Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is asking for prayers as her family faces serious health challenges.
In a statement, Arroyo shared that her husband, former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, is set to undergo a bypass and aortoplasty in Singapore on April 7. The procedure aims to prevent further complications linked to his dissecting aortic aneurysm, which was first diagnosed in 2007.
Her son, Pampanga Representative Mikey Arroyo, was also recently diagnosed with Stage 1 thyroid cancer. He has since undergone surgery.
Adding to the family’s grief, Arroyo said they are mourning the recent passing of Paowee Tantoco in the United States.
With these personal matters taking priority, the former president said she would not be able to personally campaign for her re-election bid in the May 2025 polls.
