Aurora commemorates 145th birth anniversary of Manuel Quezon

BALER, Aurora — The province of Aurora commemorated the 145th birth anniversary of former President Manuel L. Quezon.

It was highlighted by wreath laying ceremonies on Quezon monuments at the municipal building of Baler and in front of Museo de Baler.

In his message, Department of Tourism Regional Director Richard Daenos noted that Quezon is one of the revered icons in Baler, the place where history and nature meet.

“Baler, albeit relatively small compared to other capital towns in the region, is a place where history meets natural and cultural beauty and which has risen to prominence. It has become a beacon of development through the progressive preservation of its rich cultural route,” he added.

For his part, Baler Mayor Rhett Angara expressed his admiration to Quezon’s dedication in providing equal opportunities for all citizens, whether in the field of employment or education.

The local chief executive furthered that this is what he is trying to replicate and together with social development and tourism, it will further develop the town.

Quezon was born on August 19, 1878 in Baler, Tayabas (presently known as the province of Quezon).

He served as President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 until his death in 1944. (CLJD/MAT-PIA 3)
