Balibago chief orders crackdown on unregistered businesses

ANGELES CITY, Philippines – Barangay Balibago Chairperson Joseph Ponce on Wednesday said a saturation drive will soon be conducted along Walking Street to identify and address unregistered businesses operating in the area.

“We’ve already sent out notices to business establishments,” Ponce told reporters, noting that an estimated 5,000 establishments have yet to register with the city government.

Ponce also said business owners will be required to register their employees with the Barangay Balibago office to ensure proper documentation and worker protection.

The announcement was made during the “Parade of Colors: Pride Drag Queen Battle” held at Robinsons Balibago, where Ponce also vowed to improve garbage collection across the barangay as part of a broader push for order and cleanliness.

In a show of support for the LGBTQ+ community, Ponce teased plans for a grand celebration during the upcoming Oktoberfest, highlighting Balibago’s inclusive and festive spirit.
