In a momentous occasion at the 49th Philippine Business Conference and Expo, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) bestowed upon Bataan the prestigious title of the 2023 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) in the province-level category.
This significant recognition marks the third time Bataan has clinched this accolade, following their victories in 2018 and 2021.
Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III, the driving force behind Bataan’s flourishing local economy, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the PCCI for this remarkable honor. In his message, he pledged to continue the provincial government’s unwavering commitment to fostering a thriving local economy. His vision includes providing ample opportunities for every Bataeño, ensuring that no one is left behind in the march towards progress.
Governor Garcia also took the opportunity to commend the dedicated entrepreneurs and all the departments within the Capitol for their invaluable contributions that led to this remarkable achievement. He emphasized that the government’s role is not to hinder business owners but to facilitate their endeavors, making it easier to establish businesses, generate revenue, offer services, and craft outstanding products. He underscored the importance of these efforts in fueling economic growth that benefits everyone in the community.
The PCCI annually recognizes LGUs that exhibit outstanding efforts in revitalizing and enhancing business operations within their jurisdiction through significant and sustained innovative actions. The rigorous criteria include fast-tracking local sustainable economic development, implementing ease of doing business initiatives, promoting investments, and enhancing sectoral competitiveness initiatives.
Aside from Bataan, other notable recipients of the Most Business-Friendly LGU award for 2023 included Quezon City (city level 1A), Iloilo City (city level 1B), Antipolo City (city level 2), and Tagbilaran City (city level 3). Additionally, the municipality of Tanay in Rizal was recognized at municipality level 1, while the municipality of Pakil in Laguna received the honor at municipality level 2.
This recognition not only highlights Bataan’s dedication to fostering a business-friendly environment but also serves as a testament to the collective efforts of its government, entrepreneurs, and citizens in shaping a prosperous future for the province. With Bataan’s commitment to progress and innovation, the province is poised to continue its remarkable journey towards economic excellence and inclusivity.
