Bataan, Philippines – The province of Bataan, under the leadership of Governor Joet Garcia, took a significant leap toward establishing itself as a leader in digital innovation with the successful hosting of the Global Blockchain Congress 2024. The event, held on September 24 at the Bataan People’s Center, gathered local and international stakeholders from various industries related to blockchain technology.
Governor Garcia opened the congress with a message of gratitude to the participants, emphasizing the growing importance of blockchain in the digital economy. The congress served as a platform for discussing innovative solutions and best practices in emerging fields such as cryptocurrency, the Internet of Things (IoT), and information technology.
During the event, Governor Garcia shared updates on Bataan’s own strides in technological advancements. He highlighted several key initiatives of the provincial government, including the 1Bataan Command Center, which is instrumental in ensuring safety across the province, especially along the Roman Superhighway. Additionally, he emphasized the province’s eco-friendly transition with the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) and the construction of EV charging stations, aimed at protecting the environment.
Another groundbreaking project is the Bataeno Pass, a local ID system that will streamline access to government services for Bataan residents. “All of these efforts,” Garcia explained, “are part of our vision to establish Bataan as a Blockchain City.”
The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Industry Development Bureau and the Blockchain Council of the Philippines, both of which have been instrumental in advancing blockchain technology across the country.
With Bataan now at the forefront of the country’s blockchain movement, this congress marks another step in positioning the province as a hub for digital innovation, safety, and sustainability. As Governor Garcia concluded, “Bataan is not just building the future; we are creating a smarter, greener, and more efficient province for the next generation.”
