BALANGA CITY — A Bataeño was appointed as the newest Assistant Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar officiated the Oath of Office of Engineer Wilfredo “Willy” Mallari, a native of Balanga City, this Friday, December 11, 2020.
Mallari’s previous position before becoming an Asec. was as DPWH Regional Director of MIMAROPA which is composed of the provinces of Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan and the cities of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro and Puerto Princesa in Palawan.
He also served as DPWH Assistant Regional Director of Mimaropa for a year prior to his promotion as Regional Director of the said region.
Mallari is not new to implementing projects being district engineer in Bataan’s first district for 14 years followed by his assignments in Las Pinas City, Muntinlupa City, and Metro Manila for three years.
“RD Willy”, as his close friends previously call him, rose from the ranks starting as part-time civil engineering aide in 1975 while studying at the Adamson University in Manila.
Asec. Mallari became a regular employee of DPWH, then the Ministry of Public Works and Highways in December 1977 after graduating and passing the Board of Civil Engineers in April of the same year.
