Transport Secretary Jaime J. Bautista has called on officials of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and its attached agencies to extend their full support to incoming Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Bringas Dizon. In a meeting on Friday, Bautista emphasized the importance of continuity in leadership and urged his team to maintain or even exceed their commitment under the new administration.
“With your suggestions and recommendations, he [Dizon] will be able to continue the mission and vision we have started. My request is to extend the same commitment or even more to Secretary Dizon,” Bautista said. He underscored that their collective efforts should remain focused on improving services for the commuting public.
Senior officials lauded Bautista for his leadership, recognizing his role in implementing major reforms and advancing big-ticket infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the country’s transportation system. They acknowledged his initiatives in ensuring a more comfortable, accessible, and secure commuting experience for Filipinos.
Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) Executive Director Carmelo Arcilla paid tribute to Bautista’s leadership, highlighting his compassionate approach to governance. “I have served under eight transportation secretaries, and it is not only now that you have resigned that I say this—you are the best I have served. Your leadership is not about shock and awe, but about the kindness that touches others’ hearts,” Arcilla said.
Bautista’s tenure saw the acceleration of key transport initiatives, including the modernization of airports, expansion of railway projects, and improvement of maritime and road transport services. His pragmatic leadership style earned him respect across the agency, fostering a culture of collaboration and efficiency.
As he steps down, Bautista assured that he remains committed to supporting the country’s transport sector in other capacities. Meanwhile, Dizon, known for his expertise in infrastructure development, is expected to build on these achievements and further strengthen the DOTr’s initiatives for a more robust and resilient transport network.
