The Bridges of Benevolent Initiatives Foundation Incorporated (BBI Foundation) has awarded full four-year college scholarship to 97 recipients at Midori Hotel on Friday.
BBI Foundation chairman and president Dr. Ireneo “Bong” Alvaro Jr., trustees and members along with officials from the local government, academic community and private individuals led the awarding ceremonies at the Festa Hall Pavilion.
“With this noble undertakings, it reminds me of my late father who once told me that if I want to get out of poverty, I need to finish my studies. He said it in the dialect, ‘Nung bisa kang miaun ken kasakitan, magaral ka’,” Alvaro said.
Parañaque Second District Representative Gustavo Tambunting expressed support to BBI’s cause. He also shared how he was able to give out scholarships to indigent but deserving students in his own city.
Tambunting also praised Alvaro for giving back to students who might not lost the chance to finish their studies.
BBI Foundation’s goal is to act as the bridge and bring about change in the lives of the needy in poverty-stricken areas through its social services, entrepreneurial empowerment including disaster management programs.
BBI Foundation aims to provide opportunities for people to become self-reliant, independent, resilient and a productive members of the community in particular, and of society in general.
Awardees were mostly residents of the cities of Angeles and Mabalacat, town of Magalang and adjacent localities around the Freeport.
“All of our recipients demonstrate great potential in leading the next generation because they dream big, let us continue to Inspire these young minds and let them Believe that they will Achieve what they wish to accomplish,” Alvaro said.
Representatives from the local government units including scholarship recipients have thanked Alvaro and BBI Foundation for their program.
