BCDA, K-Water partner for smart water infrastructure

MANILA, Philippines – The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with South Korea’s K-Water to develop smart water resource infrastructure for New Clark City, positioning it as the country’s first fully smart, sustainable, and eco-friendly metropolis.

The project, which integrates smart technology and artificial intelligence, will focus on the creation of advanced hydrological systems, including a dam, water treatment facilities, pipe networks, and sewage treatment systems.

K-Water presented its feasibility study, outlining a comprehensive plan to ensure New Clark City’s water infrastructure aligns with its vision of becoming a smart city.

“This partnership is a significant step toward achieving our goal of a sustainable and future-ready metropolis,” BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang said during the event.

K-Water President and CEO Seogdae Yun emphasized the importance of technology-driven solutions to address water resource management in modern cities.

The milestone event was also attended by Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Sang-Hwa Lee and BCDA Vice President for Strategic Projects Management Randy Viacrusis.
