NEW CLARK CITY, Tarlac — Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) currently prepare three facilities in Clark as quarantine centers for persons under investigation (PUIs) in Central Luzon particularly in the provinces of Tarlac and Pampanga.
In an interview during the Laging Handa Public Briefing over PTV, BCDA President and CEO Vivencio Dizon said there is a need for PUIs to have their own quarantine centers to reduce the community spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“We must decongest our hospitals to save more lives. We need to develop centers to save patients at the first stages of COVID-19 and protect the frontliners,” Dizon added.
Transformation of existing sites into quarantine centers was already done in China, United States and Spain.
Facilities in Clark currently being prepared as quarantine centers include the ASEAN Convention Center with 200 beds, New Clark City Athletes’ Village with 525 rooms and National Government Administrative Center Building with 1,000 beds.
“These quarantine centers will take good care of our kababayans. It will have a 24/7 monitoring from doctors and nurses, there will be free food, it is air-conditioned and free wifi,” Dizon furthered.
