BCDA pushes unified RFID system for expressways

CLARK FREEPORT—The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), in coordination with the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) and key transport agencies, has committed to fast-tracking the full implementation of a unified toll collection system across major expressways by December 2025.

As the owner of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), BCDA joins the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and various tollway operators in advancing the “One RFID” initiative aimed at providing a seamless and cashless travel experience to motorists.

The unified system will allow drivers to use a single RFID tag across multiple toll roads nationwide, reducing bottlenecks at toll plazas, cutting down travel time, and enhancing overall traffic efficiency.

According to BCDA President Joshua Bingcang this initiative is expected to significantly benefit the economy by streamlining mobility between key trade corridors, boosting regional connectivity, and promoting tourism and commerce beyond Metro Manila.

The agency emphasized that a unified toll system is more than a convenience—it is a strategic infrastructure upgrade that aligns with the government’s long-term development agenda.
